Åndalsnes, Rampestreken and Troll Wall were destinations of our second road trip in the 2021 season "From spring to Winter"! 542 km to the North and around snowy slopes and frozen rivers! Very spectacular! But still, the main goal was to climb the Rampestreken observation deck!
Since it still was out of season, there is no queue for photos and a 2-minute limit for staying on the deck. Nevertheless, the climb was very difficult due to the snow on the trail (we do not recommend walking in April without proper shoes as you will have to go through the snowy slopes), the view of the mountains at sunset captured our imagination! It was worth it!
We spent the night near Troll Wall and it's really high and beautiful! But look at this video for yourself - we are sure you will like it!
A bonus to the wonderful trip was the northern lights on the first night - which never gave us enough sleep! :)
#Åndalsnes
Åndalsnes is a town in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Åndalsnes is in the administrative center of Rauma Municipality. It is located along the Isfjorden, at the mouth of the river Rauma, at the north end of the Romsdalen valley.
#Rampestreken
Viewpoint Rampestreken is a fantastic experience. The lookout is 537 meters above sea level. The view is simply breathtaking! From the start point in Åndalsnes town center, the trail ascends steeply until reaching the viewpoint, Rampestreken, 537 meters above sea level. It’s classified as a moderate hike, however, the last part is quite steep – but manageable. When you reach about 430 masl the trail steepens into stone steps, where the path is made durable thanks to wonderful pieces of stone construction works by Nepalese Sherpas. Worth a study itself, called Romsdalstrappa. The steps provide a solid path most of the way to the top. The path is well marked with signposts and red marks painted on trees and rocks. You’ll be updated with signs telling you the elevation every 100 height meters from the goal.
#Trollveggen
The Troll Wall is Europe’s tallest vertical mountain wall and incorporates Europe’s longest climbing route, where adventurous climbers spend the night in the mountain wall.
The wall is part of the Trolltindene mountain range in Rauma in Møre and Romsdal. The wall stretches 1700 meters to the bottom of the valley and there are straight drops of 1000 meters. The mountain called Trolltindeggen pushes 50 meters out from the wall.
Before 1965, no one thought it was possible to ascend the Trollveggen mountain wall until a group of Norwegian climbers and a separate group of English climbers proved everyone wrong. It took them 14 days to reach the peak using two different routes. Through recent decades several more routes have been scaled during the winter.
About Us:
We are traveling across Norway with camper Hymer Eriba Troll 530 Rockabilly. Most of our trips are relatively short and start from Fredrikstad in Norway. For those who is limited in time, you might discover what you could see during a two-day or three-day trip in Southern Norway.
